Welcome To Boulder Lacrosse! BVL 6 McDonald Team

Welcome to Boulder Valley Lacrosse!  Your son has been assigned to the BVL 6th grade McDonald (Select) team.

PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL CAREFULLY.  

COACHES:  Trevor McDonald will be the head coach.  Spencer Krist and Brad MacHamer will be the assistant coaches.  

PRACTICE LOCATIONS: Manhattan Middle School, 290 Manhattan Drive, Boulder, and East Boulder Community Park, 5660 Sioux Drive, Boulder.

EARLY SEASON SCHEDULE:

  • Wednesday March 1st: 430pm-600pm, practice East Boulder Community Park east turf field
  • Friday March 3rd: 430pm-600pm, practice EBCP east turf
  • Sunday March 5th: King of the Rock preseason tournament, Castle Rock (game schedule to be released by Thursday March 2nd and emailed to parents at that time)
  • Wednesday March 8th: 430pm-600pm, practice EBCP east turf
  • Friday March 10th: 430pm-600pm, practice EBCP east turf

REGULAR PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Begins the week of Monday March 13th

  • Mondays, 600pm-730pm, Manhattan MS turf north (share with BVL 7 Davies team)
  • Wednesdays, 600pm-730pm, Manhattan East 3 grass field (can use turf if free) (see field map below)
  • Fridays, 600pm-730pm, Manhattan MS turf north

No practices the week of March 27-31 (BVSD Spring Break)

Regular practices will resume the week of Monday April 3rd.

GAME SCHEDULE:  Will be released by the AYL (Arapahoe Youth League) no later than March 15th and emailed to parents at that time.

POTENTIAL GAME DATES: This team may have league games as early as Saturday March 18th.  Remaining games will be held on Saturdays and a few Sundays in April and May. Teams will play home games at East Boulder Community Park and away games at metro locations around the state. 

AYL DIVISION:  The BVL 6 McDonald team is projected to play in a 6th grade White division of the AYL with the following teams:

  • 970 Lax
  • Boulder McDonald
  • Fraser Valley Vella
  • Jets Berents
  • Rattlers 6th Grade Venom
  • Mountain Coco
  • MSC Hall
  • Storm Doyle

END OF SEASON:  Season will conclude at the AYL Championships, no later than Saturday May 21st or Sunday May 22nd.

ROSTERS:  To view team rosters, go to www.boulderlacrosse.org and scroll over the Team Pages tab. Click on “Choose Team,” then select the team you wish to view.  Click on Roster in the left-hand menu for that team.  Be sure to select Season “2023 Spring,” League “2023 Spring League,” and the Team you wish to view in the dropdowns at the top of the Roster page.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS:  Practice cancellations or field closures will be posted no later than 430pm on the homepage at www.boulderlacrosse.org. Coaches may also email their teams in the event of a practice cancellation. 

Home game cancellations will be posted no later than 730am at www.boulderlacrosse.org.  Away game cancellations will be posted on the Field Status page at http://www.aylsportslacrosse.leag1.com/ by administrators of opposing teams.

UNIFORMS:  Players will receive a new uniform at an upcoming practice before the first game.

COLD WEATHER:  Lacrosse is a cold weather sport commonly played in inclement conditions.  We will attempt to hold practices whenever conditions are reasonable and permitted by our field providers.  Parents are expected to insure that players are more than adequately dressed for cold conditions.  

Long-sleeve compression shirts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants are all recommended in cold weather.  Latex gloves will help keep hands warm under lacrosse gloves.  A warm player is a happy, effective player!

EQUIPMENT: All players must have their own equipment.

  • Boys must have a boys lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, a cup, and a mouthguard.
  • Hockey gear is acceptable for new players.  Hockey helmets must have a 4 point strap and be NOCSAE approved.
