2023 BVL FALL BALL INFO:

Boulder Valley Lacrosse runs our annual Fall Ball program on Sundays in September and October. BVL Fall Ball provides opportunities for beginning, intermediate, and advanced boys players to continue their skill development under the direction of experienced BVL coaches.  We strongly recommend participation in Fall Ball for all players interested in playing for BVL during our primary spring season.

We will again provide 2 options for BVL Fall Ball: our traditional Sunday Skills program at Manhattan Middle School,  and our "SLV Fall League" option which includes home and away games organized by Summit Lacrosse Ventures.

Registration for 2023 BVL Fall Ball will open in mid-July.  Be sure to join our email list to receive notifications when Fall Ball registration opens up: JOIN EMAIL LIST

Please read on for details about each option.

"SUNDAY SKILLS"  FALL BALL:

  • Our traditional Fall Ball program

  • Recommended for all beginning or inexperienced players.

  • Advanced players are also encouraged to participate and will be grouped appropriately with other experienced players.   BVL Davies team will likely participate in the Sunday Skills program instead of the SLV Fall League this year.

  • BVL has a limited supply of lacrosse equipment available for new players to borrow.

  • We will hold an equipment loan session on Thursday August 24th, 530pm to 630pm, at the BVL equipment shed on the north side of Manhattan Middle School, 290 Manhattan Drive, Boulder.  Access is easiest from Tenino Ave.  This will be your best and likely the only opportunity to borrow equipment before this program starts.

  • All 6 Sunday sessions will be held outdoors at the same location- no travel.

  • Location: Manhattan Middle School, 290 Manhattan Drive, Boulder.

  • Times: All groups will play from 1100am to 100pm (younger groups may end earlier).

  • Sessions will run September 10, 17, 24, and October 1, 8, 15.  In the event of weather cancellation, makeup date will be October 22.

  • Sessions will consist of high-tempo drills designed to teach the fundamental skills and team concepts of lacrosse, including passing, catching, scooping, and shooting.  Most sessions will conclude with intra-squad scrimmages or small-sided game situations.

  • Players will be grouped by age & experience level.

  • Coaches will include current BVL coaches and CU Lacrosse players

  • Cost $180 plus any required US Lacrosse membership ($30).

  • Players are not required to purchase BVL game jersey or shorts.  Players new to BVL will receive a reversible Boulder Lacrosse practice jersey.

SLV FALL LEAGUE:

  • An expansion of our traditional Fall Ball program featuring games against our Arapahoe Youth League opponents

  • Recommended for experienced players seeking more game action

  • Open to players in 4th grade and above (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade players may register for Sunday Skills program only).

  • 7v7 format for the fall (spring season is traditionally 10v10 for 4th-8th grade teams)

  • 7 Sunday dates, including 2 practices, at least 2 home games at EBRC and up to 3 away games.  There will be no weather makeup dates.

  • Home games will be held at East Boulder Community Park turf fields on Sundays.  Away games will be held at locations around Colorado, including Arvada, Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Evergreen, and Lakewood.

  • Practices on August 27 and September 10 at East Boulder Community Park turf field, 5660 Sioux Drive, Boulder or Manhattan Middle School, 290 Manhattan Drive, Boulder.  Home or away games on September 17, 24 and October 1, 8, 15.

  • Schedule:

  • Cost $215 plus any required US Lacrosse membership ($30)

  • Players assigned to a Fall team must have a 2023 BVL game uniform or will be required to purchase a uniform for an additional cost of $85.

Experienced players (at least one season of competitive lacrosse) may choose either BVL Sunday Skills or the SLV Fall League.

ALL BVL FALL BALL PLAYERS:

  • Must have full equipment (boys lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder & elbow pads, gloves, cup and mouthguard).  We have  limited quantities of loaner equipment available for new players to borrow.

  • Must have US LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP (annual cost $30).  This is a requirement of our insurance provider and may be obtained during the course of online registration. Please email   if you have any difficulties with the US Lacrosse membership process- this will not prevent your son from playing with us this fall.

  • May have any level of experience:  beginning, intermediate or advanced.  We welcome all boys lacrosse players.

  • Will be grouped on the basis of age & experience. In some cases, parents have requested that new and inexperienced players be grouped with friends who have significant playing experience.  We greatly prefer to group beginning and less experienced players separately from intermediate and advanced players.  This approach leads to more rapid skill development and significantly less frustration on the part of newer players who are just beginning to learn the sport.  It will provide them with a stronger athletic foundation in the long run.  Once beginning players have mastered the fundamental skills of lacrosse, good athletes should be able to "catch up" with more experienced players.

  • Are strongly encouraged to play with a properly strung lacrosse stick.  This makes a huge difference in a player's ability to learn how to throw and catch properly.  While you don't need to invest in the most expensive equipment available to see results, we encourage parents not to skimp on this essential piece of gear.  We do not recommend that you purchase used lacrosse sticks for this reason.

  • Are encouraged to visit our great sponsor DICK’S SPORTING GOODS to try out lacrosse gear.  Parents can click on the Dick’s Sporting Goods banner on our website to download great coupons for savings on lacrosse purchases.

PROSPECTIVE COACHES:  Boulder Valley Lacrosse is always seeking to add new coaches to our program.  Lacrosse experience is NOT required, but a positive and healthy attitude about youth sports is mandatory.

If you have the ability to engage kids in an energetic and enthusiastic manner, we would love to have you coach with us and will train you in our preseason coaching clinic on Sunday August 27th. We require all coaches to pass a NCSI background check and agree to our BVL Coaches’ Pledge of Responsibility.
